Case Study: Our Coastal Kids' Craft Station at the BCF Taren Point Grand Opening

When global advertising agency Omnicom was tasked with organising the launch for the newest and biggest BCF store in New South Wales, they knew they needed a premium experience to keep visiting families entertained. They found PLAYCARNIVAL, reached out to our team, and asked us to design and staff a custom kids' arts and crafts station for the massive grand opening weekend.

We jumped at the chance to partner with Omnicom and BCF Australia to bring something truly unique to Taren Point. The turnout on the day was absolutely huge, way bigger than anyone could have imagined, and our little station was a total blockbuster.

Here is a look at what we created and why it was such a cracker of a weekend.

What We Did: No Boring Colouring Sheets Here!

If you know PLAYCARNIVAL, you know we don't do boring. Because Taren Point is famous for having some of the absolute best beaches around, we wanted a craft that felt local and high-quality.

Instead of just handing out cheap markers and paper, we set up a proper premium art station:

  • The Concept: Kids got to sculpt their own custom wooden fish and boats.
  • The Magic Ingredient: We used thick, professional modelling paste on mini canvases so they could really get hands-on.
  • The Finishing Touch: We brought jars of real, beautiful seashells collected straight from our local beaches to encrust into the designs.

 

How It Went: A Total Sell-Out in 90 minutes

We knew it was going to be busy, but the response blew us away. The vibes were 10/10 from the second the doors opened, and our little station was absolute gridlock.

  • Cleaned Out in 90 Minutes: The fish and boats were such a massive hit with the local families that we completely ran out of our custom craft supplies within the very first hour!
  • Keeping the Little Ones Busy: It was awesome seeing the kids completely zoned in, working on their mini masterpieces on the easels while parents got a breather to shop the grand opening deals.
  • Catching the Eye of the Big Leagues:  Running a high-energy, polished setup gets people talking. We were even approached by representatives from Omnicom, one of the top global advertising agencies, who enquired about how we pull our activation experiences together.
